OBSOLETE PARTS
Polar started selling paper cutters in the US about 1962 and we have seen some which were imported directly from Germany as early as 1957. Many Polar cutters are still in daily use after forty years of service. While this is a great testimonial to their durability and reliability, no manufacturer or distributor can be expected to stock parts this old.
G B Cutter Service has collected a large number of parts which are no longer available from Heidelberg, the distributor for Polar. Some we were able to repair or rebuild, some were made in our machine shop. We are always on the lookout for Polar cutters which are being scrapped, if they may have usable parts, as well as used parts we can rebuild.
Caution!
Continuing to use paper cutters without modern safety devices may involve
some hazard to the operator. We cannot endorse any repairs which may endanger
personnel. Some companies such as Colter
& Peterson, Industrial
Technology Services, and Phaselec
offer a variety of upgrade kits to allow older machines to meet current
safety standards. These kits include; cutting circuits, push-button knife/clamp
safety controls, mechanical blade lock-outs, and photo-eye safety beams.
If you feel your machine can be safely repaired despite its age, call
us for availability of obsolete parts.
